ILLENIUM releases official remix of “Anti-Hero” for Taylor Swift [LISTEN]

Taylor Swift set some serious records with the release of her latest album, Midnights, including holding every spot on the Billboard Top 10, the first person, man or woman, to accomplish the feat. (Drake held nine.) So when we saw she was coming out with remixes of “Anti-Hero,” the single that held the top spot, we were curious which top-tier EDM artist she would end up tapping.

Not Marshmello, not The Chainsmokers, nor David Guetta, Zedd, or DJ Snake, but ILLENIUM walked away with the plug and the remix is officially out today, after becoming available for purchase on Swift’s store yesterday.

The song makes use of the delicate piano from the original, augmented by ILLENIUM’s own sound and brought to the forefront. The drop is bombastic and full of energy, making this the perfect sing-along for the particular intersection of Swifties and Illenials — we know you’re out there.

ILLENIUM tapped for official remix of Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero”

Taylor Swift has been steadily dropping remixes of her hit “Anti-Hero” off her latest album, Midnights. So far she’s done a version with Bleachers, as well as remixes from Roosevelt, Kungs, and Jayda G. Tonight at 11:59p ET, ILLENIUM gets a crack at the song along with an acoustic version out, as well.

Right now, the song is available for purchase for $0.69 on Taylor’s official web store until it’s out everywhere tonight, if you really can’t wait that long. We were curious and $0.69 isn’t going to break the bank, so we got it.

ILLENIUM remixes have become more rare since he’s entered his multi-album era, but surely there was no way he was going to turn this one down. With his characteristic piano chords and emphatic synths, the song gets a perfect peak-hour remix with lyrics that are going to have the whole crowd screaming, “It’s me, hi, I’m the problem, it’s me” and “sometimes I feel like everybody is a sexy baby.” (Yes, that’s a real lyric, if you haven’t heard the song yet.)

The remix is out on all platforms later tonight.

ILLENIUM continues to build his next body of work with “Worst Day” feat MAX

We’re getting a new ILLENIUM album. As today’s new song, “Worst Day” with MAX appeared on Spotify, it was bundled with a few of his previous recent singles, “From The Ashes,” “All That Really Matters,” and “Shivering.” The same thing happened as Fallen Embers was nearing release.

Nothing has been officially announced yet, to our knowledge, but the signs are there.

As for “Worst Day,” vibe wise, it shares a lot of similarities with “Good Things Fall Apart” with Jon Bellion. The pop influence on this single, though, feels like it comes from OneRepublic — very significant Waking Up vibes.

ILLENIUM plays out unreleased remix of JVKE’s “Golden Hour” with Nurko [VIDEO]

This past weekend, ILLENIUM debuted some new music with Nurko, remixing “Golden Hour” by JVKE.

While it would be great to have a headline saying it was his first remix in years, he actually just released a remix for the legendary Nirvana just earlier this year. So, second in a while will have to suffice. Still, ILLENIUM remixes are very rare and they never fail.

Check out the short clip below and stay tuned for the official release!

ILLENIUM And Skylar Grey Emerge “From The Ashes” Together On Soaring New Single

After teasing a new album and new single, ILLENIUM officially releases his new single with Skylar Grey, “From The Ashes,” today.

Stylistically, the song is peak ILLENIUM. Soaring chords, beautiful vocals, delicate guitar and piano in between more cacophonous drops — he’s found his formula and it’s working. As for the title of the song, we wouldn’t be surprised if it was the title track from the forthcoming album he’s teased. Since the last album was Fallen Embers, rising “from the ashes” would make sense chronologically in the story he’s been telling.

About the track, ILLENIUM comments, “This is one of those songs that I feel so lucky and grateful to be a part of. My main goal with music is to give people peace and some escape – and that’s exactly what “From The Ashes” does for me.”

Skylar Grey adds, “[Nick] and I have been wanting to collab for years, excited we finally made it happen. The throwback Enya vibes combined with that fake out drop is the eargasm of the decade for me. And the lyrics completely parallel where I’m at in life right now.”

The Chainsmokers Head To Colorado To Work On Next Album… New ILLENIUM Collab Incoming?

It’s only been three months since So Far, So Good, the most recent album from The Chainsmokers. Yet, never ones to rest on their laurels, the group has announced they’re already about to start work on their next album.

In a tweet yesterday, TCS said they were headed to Colorado to start working on the album and will be uploading “clips and things” for the next two weeks.”

Colorado to start working on TCS5… gonna be uploading clips and things for the next 2 weeks

— THE CHAINSMOKERS (@TheChainsmokers) August 21, 2022

And who else lives in Colorado that has worked with The Chainsmokers before? Yup, ILLENIUM.

The two previously collaborated on “Takeaway” with Lennon Stella off their albums World War Joy and ASCEND, respectively, both released in 2019. With three years and a whole global pandemic between then and now, the time seems right for them to get back into the studio. But nothing has been confirmed, and ILLENIUM is still on a pretty heavy tour schedule for about the next month, so getting together might prove inconvenient.

Listen to their one and only collab again below.

ILLENIUM Announces Next Location For TRILOGY – Three Sets, One Night

Just a little over a year ago, ILLENIUM debuted his TRILOGY experience — three sets, one each focusing on Ashes, Awake, and ASCEND, all in one night. The show happened just a couple weeks before the release of his fourth album, Fallen Embers, last July.

Now, he’s bringing the TRILOGY experience back and you know he just had to do it in Denver at Empower Field at Mile High.

We’ll have to see how he incorporates the new album into the show, because naming it “Quadrology” really doesn’t sound that great.

You’ll have a while to plan because the show doesn’t happen until next year, June 17. But be quick, because pre-sale starts this July 27 at noon MT. You can sign up for early access here.

Three Sets. One Night. TRILOGY is coming to Empower Field at Mile High in Denver on Sat. June 17th, 2023. Can’t wait to share this experience with all of you again 🙂

Dillon Francis Shares First Single From ‘This Mixtape Is Fire TOO’ with ILLENIUM & EVAN GIIA

Seven years ago, Dillon Francis released This Mixtape is Fire. and nothing was ever the same. Featuring collaborations with Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Bro Safari, Kygo, and Chromeo, plus a remix from Party Favor, the 7-track project has had fans begging for a sequel ever since. Now, finally, it’s coming.

“Don’t Let Me Let Go” serves as the first taste of Dillon’s forthcoming This Mixtape Is Fire TOO, yet another long-anticipated collaboration between himself and ILLENIUM and EVAN GIIA.

“Did it take me more than two years to finish this song with Illenium and EVAN GIIA? You’re damn right it did,” says Francis. “Do I think you need to check it out so I can feel a sense of accomplishment in my life, that the two years of late nights and early mornings weren’t for nothing and that I’m worth a damn and that my mom and dad should be proud of me and that my brother needs to get off my back about buying him a new mountain bike because I supposedly broke it but it was already broken even though I don’t have proof? Yes. Please. Thank you.”

ILLENIUM Remixes Nirvana’s “Something In The Way” From BATMAN In Collab With DC Comics

A little less than two weeks ago, ILLENIUM teased some sort of collaboration with Batman, the popular franchise from DC Comics, coming out April 22. While we’re still two days away, he surprised fans with his first remix in over 2 years, tackling the iconic “Something In The Way” by Nirvana which saw renewed popularity after “The Batman” was released in theaters.

The remix is slower and more akin to wave than a lot of ILLENIUM’s most recent material, making this a truly special collaboration between one of the biggest EDM artists and one of the juggernauts of superhero comics.

In addition to the remix, fans can also check out some official Batman x ILLENIUM merchandise available this Friday.

The official Batman X ILLENIUM jersey and merchandise will be available for pre-sale this Friday at 10am PT. I’ve been a huge fan of the DC Universe and Batman for years now so am stoked for this release!

ILLENIUM Premiered A Heavy, Unreleased Banger On Ultra’s Main Stage For Headlining Set

Apart from remixing his own “Blame Myself” with Virtual Riot on the Fallen Embers deluxe album, it’s been quite a while since we’ve had an original heavy banger from ILLENIUM. The last few all saw him teaming up with Excision for “In My Mind,” “Feel Something,” “Gold (Stupid Love).”

Last night as he closed out the Ultra main stage for the first time, he dropped a brand new, unreleased banger that reminds us for all the pop and love songs he puts out, he can still go incredibly hard. The song is with Spiritbox and is allegedly called “Shivering.”

Check it out below before you hunker down for the last day of the live stream later today!

ILLENIUM & Thirty Seconds To Mars Team Up For New Single, “Wouldn’t Change A Thing”

ILLENIUM is a groundbreaking artist, there’s no denying that. From selling out the debut show at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to over 60,000 fans, releasing four albums and becoming a household dance music name, and more, he’s proven himself time and again to be a force to be reckoned with. But no one could have predicted that, of all things, ILLENIUM would be the one to bring Thirty Seconds To Mars out of a three-year music release drought.

“Wouldn’t Change A Thing” is out today, setting the stage for the Deluxe Edition of ILLENIUM’s fourth full-length album, Fallen Embers, on October 22. It’s also the first new music from Thirty Seconds To Mars in three years, since 2018’s AMERICA.

The song is pure vibes, with recognizable melodies and structure, built with impeccable vocals from Jared Leto and Shannon Leto’s drums. Check it out below and pre-save the Deluxe Edition of Fallen Embers now for a chance to win a signed jersey: here

ILLENIUM Releases Emotional Fourth Album, “Fallen Embers”

Almost like clockwork, ILLENIUM’s fourth album, the first following his Ashes / Awake / Ascend trilogy, is out today. When we reviewed Ascend two years ago, we asked how ILLENIUM would would top it after it seemed like he had reached the peak of his artistry. As it turns out, he didn’t have a problem with that at all.

Prior to the 14-track album’s release, we’d heard just six of the tracks, including collaborations with Tom DeLonge, Dabin & Lights, iann dior, Annika Wells, and more. However, there is so, so, so much more to explore on this incredible album which also features Tori Kelly, Sasha Sloan, Krewella & SLANDER, nothing, nowhere., Excision & HALIENE, Said The Sky & Rock Mafia, and Emma Grace.

Of the new album, ILLENIUM shares, “This album is the result of my healing and personal growth. A lot of passion went into every single song. Thank you to everyone involved who helped make this album what it is. I’m stoked it’s finally here and I hope you enjoy the start of this new chapter I’m sharing with you.”

He told Zane Lowe on New Music Daily on Apple Music 1, “I got more time on this one, honestly, because of the last year and I think I got time to perfect it and really make sure everything hit right emotionally. I was working on so much stuff this past year and I wanted to make songs that just I like and just I vibe with and I know that helps me out and get rid of some of the noise. And so it was really peaceful, honestly.”

Listen to Fallen Embers from ILLENIUM below.

ILLENIUM is also celebrating the release of his new album with an Artist Takeover Mode on Pandora. During his takeover, he will act as a guest DJ for Main Stage on MIXR, Pandora’s new Flagship Dance Station. This exclusive playlist and commentary lives on the platform for 2-4 weeks. You can find the Main Stage Mode on the MIXR station here.

ILLENIUM’s Special Trilogy Performance Will Be Largest Single-Headliner EDM Event In US History

After teasing fans with a special Trilogy show, showing off special sets from each of his three (currently-released) albums — Ashes, Awake, Ascend — the location and date has finally been revealed for ILLENIUM’s Trilogy performance and it’s absolutely MASSIVE.

ILLENIUM’S Trilogy performance will be the first full-scale concert performed in the new Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, with a capacity of 65,000 people. For context, Madison Square Garden seats a little less than 21,000; LA State Historic Park, which has featured Zedd and Rüfüs Du Sol, can host 25,000; Hollywood Bowl seats 17,000; and Banc of California Stadium, which will also see Rüfüs Du Sol this year, seats 22,000.

“The Trilogy idea for me has always been the celebration of the end of this chapter,” said ILLENIUM. “My plans were to take it on tour last year but the pandemic wouldn’t allow it. So we’re going to do it in one huge show, three sets, and it will be the biggest show I’ve ever done. I’m beyond excited to be able to do this in Las Vegas. It will be insane.”

“If there was ever a venue and a city perfectly matched for this one-night-only performance by this incredible artist, it’s Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas,” said Bobby Reynolds, Senior Vice President of AEG Presents. “This will be a performance for the ages.”

“This will be an extraordinary night celebrating ILLENIUM’S remarkable music and Las Vegas’ return to full volume,” said Justin Weniger of Life Is Beautiful. “This spectacular production will announce to the world that the Entertainment Capital of the World is back.”

This show will bring closure to this trio of albums as ILLENIUM begins a new musical journey with the July 16 release of his highly anticipated fourth album, Fallen Embers, due out July 16.

ILLENIUM Teams Up With Viral “Mood” Singer iann dior For New Single, “First Time”

It’s been three months since the last ILLENIUM single but he’s coming back in 2021 with another fantastic track, calling upon iann dior who collaborated with 24kGoldn on the 2020 viral hit, “Mood.” The two’s new song, “First Time,” has a very similar vibe to “Paper Thin” with Tom DeLonge in that it has definite pop punk vibes, though it tones down the more emphatic guitar chords for some soft acoustic strums.

Of the collaboration, ILLENIUM says “I’ve been singing ‘First Time’ in my head ever since I first started working on it. I’m such a huge fan of iann and this tune is such a dope blend of my favorite sounds right now. Hope you guys love it!!”

iann dior adds “I’ve been following ILLENIUM’s music for a long time. It’s so dope to have the opportunity to collaborate with someone so talented and dedicated. I think ‘First Time’ is a perfect mix of our own styles and it’s something the fans are gonna love.”

“First Time” serves as an appetizer to ILLENIUM’s highly anticipated upcoming album with more details to be announced soon.

Dillon Francis Reveals He’s Got A Collab With ILLENIUM, Done By September

ILLENIUM collaborates with a lot of people, but it’s usually a lot of the same people: Said The Sky, Annika Wells, Daya, Echos, etc. But it’s not often that he collaborates with other producers, except in rare cases outside his own circle (like Dabin, Said The Sky, and Blanke). However, yesterday, Dillon Francis revealed that he and ILLENIUM have a collaboration together and we can’t even begin to imagine what it might sound like.

“Time to finish our collab for life is beautiful!” Dillon writes in a text to ILLENIUM, to which he responds simply, “YEEEEEETTTTT.”

Dillon can be a bit of a chameleon in the studio, as we’ve heard him produce pretty much anything and everything from dubstep to house to pop to trap to moombah. ILLENIUM typically goes in a more melodic bass direction but with Dillon along for the ride, there’s a good chance this could be an absolute banger or a fun, uptempo house track, or something completely different.

Stay tuned for any clips or teasers either of the producers might share in the coming months. Life Is Beautiful is scheduled for September in Las Vegas. You can see the full lineup here.

Illenium, Subtronics, & Cray All Just Got Their Own Quarantine Puppies

With so many DJs being forced to stay home rather than touring so much of the year, many are looking into other ways to occupy their time. Of course live streams and studio time are productive ways to spend time for producers and musicians, but self-isolation is also affording many the time to take a step back and slow down a bit.

On that note, many DJs are adopting animals. Illenium, Subtronics, and Cray are among the DJs recently who have gotten new puppies, and they’re all f*cking adorable.

Illenium has a new pomsky, Rocket, to join his first dog, Peanut. Subtronics and Level Up got a new Keeshond named Ellie. And Cray was gifted a cute little, some-sort-of bulldog named Beef from Kayzo.

Of course, these puppies, who will grow into adult dogs, will still need to be cared for after quarantine is said and done. And we’re sure they will be, since their owners are all awesome people.
