Martin Garrix, Matisse & Sadko, and John Martin team up to release highly anticipated ‘Won’t Let You Go’

Just in time for the end of the year, Martin Garrix is back with a treat to kick off the Holiday Season with a bang, releasing his long-awaited collaboration with Matisse & Sadko and John Martin, “Won’t Let You Go.”

Played as the opening track of his first sets after the pandemic, including Electric Love and Creamfields, the track quickly became a fan favorite. Proven to be a golden combination before, Garrix is teaming up with both Matisse & Sadko and John Martin again. Garrix already worked with Matisse & Sadko on classics such as “Together,” “Hold On” and “Forever,” while John Martin joined him on “Higher Ground” and “Now That I’ve Found You.”

Combining the best of all worlds, Garrix and Matisse & Sadko’s production signatures perfectly blend with John Martin’s heartfelt vocals while the lyrics talk about not ever letting go of the one you love the most. The euphoric hook gives “Won’t Let You Go” a massive festival feel which is exactly where it deserves to be played.

Settling down for the Holidays, Garrix is gearing up for a busy 2022 with lots up his sleeves.

Listen to “Won’t Let You Go” below!

Martin Garrix Co-Produced, Mixed, & Mastered New U2 Single ‘Your Song Saved My Life’ from Sing 2 Movie

When Martin Garrix and U2 teamed up for “We Are The People” for the EURO 2020 earlier this year, the experience must have been a good one because the Irish rock band called upon the Dutch producer once again to co-produce, mix, and master their new single “Your Song Saved My Life” from the movie Sing 2.

Super stoked to share that I co-produced, mixed and mastered the new @u2 single ‘Your Song Saved My Life’ for the movie Sing 2. enjoy!! @singmovie

— MARTIN GARRIX (@MartinGarrix) November 5, 2021

The song sounds impeccably crisp and clear, owing to Garrix’s near-decade producing his own hit music. Listen below!

Martin Garrix & Maejor’s AREA21 Debut Album Tracklist Revealed

AREA21, the collaborative project between Martin Garrix and Maejor that began in 2016 with the surprise breakout hit “Spaceship,” is finally gearing up to release its debut album next Friday. Greatest Hits Vol. 1 is… a bit of an oddly titled album, given that it’s composed entirely of newly released singles in 2021 plus six unreleased singles. None of the project’s supposed “greatest hits” like “Spaceship,” “Glad You Came,” or “We Did It” are on the album. But, oh well, I guess?

The album comes out November 12 with twelve tracks including everything they’ve released in 2021, like “Pogo,” “Mona Lisa,” or the most recent single, “Own The Night.” In addition, six other tracks (below) will be featured.

No Angel
All I Need
Time Machine
Going Home

A live AREA21 tour might be on its way, but TBD. For now, join us in waiting for the album due out next week.

Ultra Drops Phase 1 Lineup for 2022 with Illenium, Martin Garrix, Alison Wonderland, DJ Snake, & More

It will have been three years, two events, since the last Ultra Music Festival in Miami.

Ultra was one of, if not the first festival to be hit with a cancellation due to COVID-19. And, being so early in the year, it had no chance of coming back in March 2021 when the vaccine was only just beginning to roll out and safety around coronavirus was still dubious at best. Now, as we look to 2022, the Miami music festival is plotting its grand return and bringing back all the top-tier acts from which it has built a reputation.

The phase 1 lineup was announced this morning, with names like Pendulum, Illenium, Martin Garrix, Alison Wonderland, DJ Snake, Madeon, SVDDEN DEATH presents VOYD, Zeds Dead, and more.

Honestly, it’s a lot more bass music for an Ultra phase 1 reveal than we’re used to, but the variety is there with Carl Cox, Boris Brejcha, Nina Kraviz, Nicky Romero, Kygo, Oliver Tree, Sofi Tukker, and Tale Of Us also getting announced.

As for tickets for 2022, the situation is a bit unclear. Back in April of this year, the festival was sued for withholding ticket refunds. The lawsuit filed in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in Miami-Dade County stated:

Ultra engaged in unconscionable, unfair, and/or deceptive trade practices by advertising, offering, and promoting the festival, taking individuals’ money to attend said advertised festival, cancelling the festival, and then failing to provide ticket purchasers with the option of receiving a refund, effectively shifting all risk and costs of Ultra’s decision to cancel the Event to the consumers.

Whether these tickets are still in the buyers possession, or if those buyers will even want to attend 2022 and open those tickets up to the secondary market, or if the festival will release more tickets — these are all questions that at this time remain unanswered.

Take a look at the phase 1 lineup below.

Martin Garrix Drops Heavy New Club Banger “Diamonds” with Julian Jordan & Tinie Tempah

It’s been a while since we’ve had a proper club banger from Martin Garrix, but this newest with Julian Jordan and Tinie Tempah definitely scratches the itch.

“Diamonds” is relentless from the offset, with suspenseful undertones and percussion that constantly feels like it’s getting faster and faster. Coupled with Tempah’s iconic vocals, the pounding bass on the drop is more than enough to get any dancefloor absolutely jumping.

Julian Jordan Plays Out “Final” Version Of New Collab With Martin Garrix & Tinie Tempah [WATCH]

Last week, we reported that Martin Garrix had played out two new unreleased songs at his first festival back, Electric Love in Austria. This past Saturday, Julian Jordan headlined Avalon in Los Angeles, where he played out the “finished” version of his collaboration with Martin and Tinie Tempah.

Compared to literally any of his songs over the past couple of years — “Drown,” “Higher Ground,” “Fire,” “Pressure,” etc. — this is certainly one of the hardest songs that Garrix has produced. And we’re 100% here for it.

So far it’s still untitled, at least publicly, but we’re extremely excited for this one to drop. Check it out below!

Martin Garrix Drops Two Unreleased Songs At His First Festival Back

As festivals return, so too do the artists who make them the experiences that are forever embedded in our memories. Alison Wonderland played her first festival back in the US this past weekend at Beyond Wonderland SoCal, for instance, and Martin Garrix headlined Austria’s Electric Love Boutique Edition festival over the weekend, as well.

The young Dutch artist who’s been voted #1 DJ in the world multiple years running of course came prepared with some new music to show off, starting off his set with an unreleased John Martin collaboration, according to @GarrixInterview on Twitter.

Later on in the night, Garrix dropped another unreleased tune, this time one with Julian Jordan and Tinie Tempah, which the latter has all but confirmed with a sly reply on the social media platform.

This sort of grand entrance back to festival life from artists was exactly what was expected after such a long break from touring and events, so to see it truly come to fruition is hugely gratifying and very, very exciting. We can’t way to see what other artists bring to the table as they return to events, not to mention releases for these Martin Garrix songs, whenever that may be!

Martin Garrix Drops New Single “Love Runs Out” With G-Eazy & Sasha Alex Sloan

Though Martin Garrix has established a baseline sound over the years, he’s never afraid to step out of his comfort zone and try something new. Whether it’s his side projects, GRX and AREA21, or his own singles like “Summer Days,” “Pressure,” or “Fire,” we’ve seen it time and again.

Now, he steps into another lane with “Love Runs Out,” his new collaboration with G-Eazy and Sasha Alex Sloan (fka Sasha Sloan). The single is a combination of hip-hop and fresh pop production with a melodic hook and emotional lyrics that are instantly captivating. G-Eazy’s signature swagger and Sloan’s mysterious and sultry vocals perfectly blend with Garrix’s hit making production.

Martin Garrix: ‘’I’ve known Gerald since forever, so it was about time for us to release a song together. Sasha has an amazing voice, and she really completed the track. It’s a different sound for me, so I hope you guys like it!’’

Martin Garrix and Bono & The Edge have joined forces to bring the official UEFA EURO 2020 anthem to life — “We Are The People.”

The brand new song and instant global hit spotlights the strengths of all three artists involved. Garrix and his natural ability to create uplifting soundscapes; Bono, with his lyrical and melodic expertise; and U2 bandmate The Edge, with his striking guitar riffs.

It became obvious to Garrix in the early working stages of the production that Bono’s vocals would take “We Are The People” to the next level. The way it all came together truly seems meant to be.

Martin Garrix Confirms Euro 2020 Anthem with Bono & The Edge Out This Month

Martin Garrix has teamed up with Bono & The Edge for the official Euro 2020 theme song.

Just to clarify, David Evans aka the Edge is the lead guitarist, keyboardist, and backing vocalist of Irish rock band U2, alongside lead vocalist and lyricist Bono.

“We Are The People” has reportedly been in the works for over a year. Garrix first made the music before enlisting in Bono & The Edge to transform the track into a proper anthem. The production was delayed due to the pandemic, but Garrix has confirmed it’s coming out next Friday.

“We Are The People We’ve Been Waiting For,” Garrix shares in the post below.

The drop date is set for May 14, well ahead of the UEFA European Football Championship (informally known as the Euros), which kicks off in June. The tournament was put on hold last year and will still be referred to as Euro 2020.

Meanwhile, Garrix and Maejor have their debut album as AREA21 expected this fall. More on that here.

Tomorrowland to Throw 2nd Installment of ‘Around the World’ Virtual Festival this Summer

Tomorrowland Around the World is happening once again this July, bringing together a virtual audience for a unique online festival experience.

The series debuted last July amid the pandemic, as Tomorrowland’s flagship in-person event was forced to cancel. Around the World was groundbreaking to say the least, marking one of the first major festivals to go digital and winning a prestigious award for digital design and development.

Last year’s event hosted exclusive performances from Katy Perry, David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, Tiësto, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Eric Prydz, Charlotte de Witte, Amelie Lens and many more, which ticketholders could access for a limited amount of time following the live broadcast. The festival also brought back their virtual world for a special NYE stream featuring David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Boys Noize, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Diplo, Major Lazer, Martin Garrix, Snoop Dogg aka DJ Snoopadelic, and more.

Michiel Beers, co-founder of Tomorrowland, previously shared of the concept: “For us it’s a bit re-inventing the festival experience, but we truly believe that we can bring the spirit of Tomorrowland and entertainment at the highest level to people and homes around the globe.”

Tomorrowland is remaining as optimistic as possible for its proposed dates, set for end of August and early September. Beers just revealed to Billboard, “We’re still positive, although we realize we’re in a very complex situation.”

Martin Garrix Pairs Up with Tove Lo for Sultry, Club Ready Track “Pressure” [LISTEN]

Martin Garrix just dropped a club ready slow burner, “Pressure” featuring Tove Lo.

The highly anticipated collaboration explores a deep soundscape set at 115 bpm, sure to turn heads of pop and dance lovers alike. Seductive vocals and an alluring bassline draw us in, as Garrix offers a complimentary groove to Tove Lo’s vocal prowess.

Our only complaint — we’d love an extended mix because our ears are craving more than 2 minutes and 24 seconds. Regardless, we’re loving “Pressure” and its quick, to-the-point escape.

Tove Lo shares of the production:

This track hit me in all the right places and I really wanted to be a part of it. It’s cool that it’s a slightly new direction for both me and Garrix! Lyrically it’s all about destructive passion and lack of self-control. Which feels amazing until it drives you crazy. I’m very excited for this to be our first collab, I hope all our fans feel it!

“Pressure” marks the first 2021 release from both Garrix and Tove Lo.

Listen below.

New Martin Garrix With Tove Lo, “Pressure,” Out Tomorrow

Martin Garrix released two new songs in 2020, “Drown” with Clinton Kane and “Higher Ground” with John Martin. (He also released a couple under his Ytram alias.) It was a bunk year for a lot of people, so it’s not like we’re holding it against him at all, but we’re excited for some new material.

On Tuesday, Garrix announced his first single of 2021 was due out this Friday, teaming up with Tove Lo for “Pressure.”

If the track art is anything to go by, this might be one of Martin’s darker songs in his discography, characterized by a deep red color scheme and a lone woman staring into a mirror with foreboding, glowing red eyes.

Check back tomorrow to hear the full thing!

Pressure with @tovelo will be out this Friday!

Martin Garrix Back in Studio with Go-To Collaborators John Martin & Michel Zitron [PHOTO]

Martin Garrix has stayed grinding in the studio through the pandemic — and most recently, he was spotted with go-to collaborators John Martin and Michel Zitron.

This same trio first teamed up on the 2016 STMPD RCRDS release “Now That I’ve Found You,” which features the Swedish singer-songwriter duo stylized as John & Michel. Zitron went on to collaborate with Garrix again for “Hold On” with Matisse & Sadko in 2019 and “Higher Ground” in 2020.

The screenshot below captured from Garrix’s Instagram story shows the producer kicked back in studio with the two in Stockholm. Although there’s no video recording of the session, we can almost guarantee they’re cooking up another Garrix hit together.

With every move he makes, Garrix continues to make headlines. Recently, he and Bebe Rexha hit one billion Spotify streams for their emotional banger, “In the Name of Love.” Meanwhile, he’s gearing up to release new music under his AREA 21 alias with Maejor.

As for what comes of this studio session, we’ll keep you updated. See below.

Virtual Riot has been going down memory lane on Twitter for at least the past few days, dropping demos as old as 10 years. (We really recommend digging into these). One of the demos he shared was remix test of “True Colors” by Zedd, delving into the glitchy side of bass music blending the German/Russian producer’s wonderful pop melodies with some more artificial sounds.

It wasn’t too long before someone asked, “Why haven’t Zedd and Virtual Riot worked together?” To which Zedd coyly replied, “Oh but we have” with a smirking face emoji.

If that isn’t clear enough confirmation for you, I’m not sure what could be.

The collaboration could end up on Zedd’s forthcoming third album, which he says was delayed due to the pandemic in a recent Reddit AMA. Other collaborations he’s teased include Curbi (confirmed), Martin Garrix, Charlie Puth, and maybe Illenium (though he wasn’t a fan of it at the time, it could be reworked).

Stay tuned for more info and maybe a preview of the collab this year!

Oh but we have 😏

Martin Garrix & Bebe Rexha hit one billion Spotify streams for “In The Name Of Love”

Martin Garrix is the newest entrant into the Billion Spotify Streams club, and it’s not for “Animals.”

“In The Name Of Love” with Bebe Rexha has just crossed the one billion threshold, Garrix’s first on the platform, surprisingly. The song came out in 2016 and instantly became one of his biggest pop hits, and has clearly retained that status throughout the last five years as it has accumulated more plays.

Garrix is the first Dutch artist ever to accomplish this with one song. The milestone also marks Rexha’s first billion streams song.

Wilbert Mutsaers (Head of Music, Spotify Benelux) said of the achievement, “It’s truly amazing that Martin Garrix has surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify with one song as the first Dutch artist ever. His ‘In the Name of Love’ (feat Bebe Rexha) turns out to be an all-time classic!”

“In The Name of Love” was officially released on the 29th of July 2016, after Garrix ended his very first Tomorrowland closing set with the track. Teaming up with American singer-songwriter Bebe Rexha, it immediately shot to the top of the charts. The live performance of “In The Name of Love” at the ‘Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ also marked the first performance by a Dutch artist on the show. Garrix had just turned 20 at the time.

Tomorrowland NYE Theme Song Was Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams”

If there were a theme song for Tomorrowland’s NYE celebration, it was definitely Fleetwood Mac‘s “Dreams.”

The most-played out track of the digital festival has experienced a resurgence due to David Guetta and Morten‘s dance floor revival of the classic track. It’s actually a cover with rising star Lanie Gardner with much homage to the original.

Guetta rinsed the track out twice during Tomorrowland’s NYE live stream, as himself and his techno side project, Jack Back. In addition, Diplo mashed up “Dreams” with the recent re-release of OFFAIAH‘s “Private Show.”

The night saw performances from more than 25 renowned artists on 4 mesmerizing digital stages, including Armin van Buuren, Charlotte de Witte, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Major Lazer, Martin Garrix, Boys NoizeTchami, and more.

AREA21 [Martin Garrix & Maejor] Wipe Social Media Ahead of New Music

Martin Garrix and Maejor are gearing up to release new music as AREA21 — and in 2021, they’ve wiped the slate clean.

We’ve seen it time and time again, when artists are readying to drop something huge and they clear their social media feeds. This is the case with AREA21 (on Instagram and Twitter), which has some fans hoping Garrix and Maejor will release new music before their March timeframe.

Last year, Garrix revealed: “We basically made a whole album.”

“The new stuff is not super electronic,” Garrix shared in the interview below. “It’s like Gorillaz meets Outkast meets little bit of Daft Punk. It’s very playful.”

AREA21 first came on the scene in 2016 with the project’s debut single “Spaceships.” They’ve followed through with five other singles, including “Glad You Came,” “We Did It,” and most recently, “HELP.”

Listen to Garrix talk AREA21 below and get acquainted with the music here.
