Deadmau5 Collaborates With Pharrell Williams’ Side Project The Neptunes On New Single, “Pomegranate”

deadmau5 is showing off his funkier side on a new collaboration with Pharrell Williams‘ side project with Chad Hugo, The Neptunes, for “Pomegranate.”

Showing off his Random Access Memories side, deadmau5 produces a glistening, funky bassline to go along with Pharrell’s and Hugo’s vocals. Ultimately, the track is championed by The Neptunes’ rhythmic vocal style as they glide atop the rich synths. The track overall is good, but at the end of the day, it feels a bit like deadmau5 is stepping outside his comfort zone and not really nailing it.

Still, deadmau5 might have a new radio hit on his hands here, his first since 2012’s “Professional Griefers” with Gerard Way. Check out “Pomegranate” below.

deadmau5 Reveals Forthcoming Collab with The Neptunes

Yesterday, The Neptunes cryptically announced their return on social media — and today deadmau5 confirms they have a forthcoming collaboration together.

Ready or not, “Pomegranate” is coming. Though we don’t have an official release date, we’ll settle with the track title and artwork for now.

The Neptunes never really left, however — Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo have remained active through the years, producing music and collaborating with practically every reputable artist under the sun. In recent years, their list of credits includes productions for Calvin Harris, Rae Sremmurd, Gesaffelstein, Solange and many, many more.

However, it’s been since 2003 when they dropped their debut album The Neptunes Present… Clones.

Check back to hear “Pomegranate” when it drops!

Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” snags #4 spot on most played songs of the 2010s

You thought we were done with the ‘Top’ lists for the last decade? Think again. BBC Radio 2 just counted down their top 40 most-played songs of the last decade and we bet you can guess at least a few of them with your eyes closed (metaphorically, of course).

“The top 40 most-played songs are the sounds that radio producers and broadcasters have consistently played throughout the last decade and will evoke many memories for all of us,” said Peter Leathem, boss of the music licensing company which compiled the chart.

Six of the songs on the list actually remained from the ’90s including Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn.” But coming in at #4 is our own electronic darlings Daft Punk with their massive hit, “Get Lucky.”

“Get Lucky” finds itself in good company, sandwiched between Maroon 5 ft. Christina Aguilera, “Moves Like Jagger” at #3 and Justin Timberlake, “Can’t Stop The Feeling!” at #5.

See the top 10 below.

Top 10 most played songs of the 2010s

1. Pharrell Williams, ‘Happy’
2. Adele, ‘Rolling In The Deep’
3. Maroon 5 ft. Christina Aguilera, ‘Moves Like Jagger’
4. Daft Punk ft. Pharrell Williams and Nile Rogers, ‘Get Lucky’
5. Justin Timberlake, ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling!’
6. Black Eyed Peas, ‘I Got A Feeling’
7. Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars, ‘Uptown Funk’
8. OneRepublic, ‘Counting Stars’
9. CeeLo Green, ‘Forget You’
10. Kings of Leon, ‘Sex On Fire’

The group have Rihanna rapping over a futuristic beat. “I get it how I live it / I live it how I get / Count the mothaf***in’ digits / I pull up with a lemon / Not ’cause she ain’t livin’ / It’s just your eyes get acidic / And this here ain’t a scrimmage / Mothaf***a, we ain’t finished,” Rihanna raps.

Pharrell also provides some catchy vocals to compliment the beat and overall feel of the single. “Hate! Bad b**ches wanna be my bae / Hate! Hunt me down like the C.I.A / Hate! Side of my car, tryna see my face / Hate! Want me to beat it like the T.I. case,” Pharrell sings.

N.E.R.D also released a video for the single which they called a tutorial. Rihanna is also featured in the visuals which shows her shaving a woman head bald and then broke out into a eye catching dance sequence.

Cris Cab – Liar Liar

feat. Pharrell Williams

To the night time, she’s burning
Right from the which way she was turning
and I still know the pain,
She brought me live one day
She was always somewhere behind me
Thought that was something she was hiding,
but now I found the TRUTH
The thing she’ll never use!

LIAR, LIAR, she’s on fire
She’s waiting there, around the corner
Just a little aid, and she’ll jump on ya’

It’s a quarter to midnight & she’s leaving
Just when she thought I was sleepin’
And I COULD NOT BELIEVE, the things that
I had seen
When was the right time, I caught her
And she was dead in the water
I found her with her tracks
She heard me, answered back

LIAR LIAR, she’s on fire
She’s waiting there around the corner
Just a little aid, and she’ll jump on ya’

LIAR LIAR, oh oh oh
I need the sun to keep me dry
LIAR LIAR, oh oh oh
The way you got me swimming through your life
LIAR LIAR, oh oh oh
Keep hearing voices in my mind, saying:
Problem with the lifestyle, she’s in denial!

LIAR LIAR, she’s on fire
She’s waiting there around the corner
Just a little aid, and she’ll jump on ya’
LIAR LIAR, she’s on fire
She’s waiting there around the corner
Just a little aid, and she’ll jump on ya’
